Time Spent Working For My Dad Part 1

I worked with my father over 25 years.Dad had a European auto repair shop specializing in Jaguars. Lots of good times some bad, I still have dreams of cars not being ready, the pressure bearing down on us, it`s not to say we were chronically late but Dad had a bad habit of having the techs start on a car and then switching them to another emergency which interrupted the workflow and frustrated the techs terribly.  Customers came from all walks of life, we had city mayors, attorneys, doctors, pimps, drug dealers, clients being accompanied by their spouse and the next day with their mistress!
One fellow comes to mind named Gino. Gino was in his 70s drove a 72 Jaguar V12 convertible, a Cadillac Allante, a Ferrari Mondial and was always accompanied by a twenty something girlfriend, unless he was accompanied by his wife who was also in her 70s! In case Gino`s wife called the shop looking for her husband we were instructed to say he had just left..Gino was constantly fussing with his cars and seemed to thrive on the attention we gave him. How could we resist! As men we ALL wanted to be like Gino! Alive and enjoying life at that age! The wife cheating, not a good thing, but I still shake my head and smile when I remember Gino.He passed away a long time ago, God love him! I am hoping the memories come back as I click the   keyboard. I can still remember having to call the credit card companies to get the authorization numbers, everything used carbon paper including the repair orders, the credit card slips, supply orders. Back then w never thought of identity theft but with all that carbon paper it had to have been rampant. Or maybe society today is just more malicious..Stay tuned !
